Lawrenceville New Jersey MVC Reviews and Tips
People lined up early in the morning so I reached the location around 3.55 am and I was the 80th person. Tokens were distributed around the opening of the location and asked to come inside to give the phone numbers to send text about the status of the token. People are sent by groups and staff were super helpful. They were kind and patient.

The agent was really helpful, explained clearly the difference in getting a regular license versus Real ID, and the requirements needed. My tip for others would be getting an appointment online before going there as the process went smoothly and didn't have to wait for hours. Covid protocol was strict, and I felt comfortable when I stepped inside the office because there are just a few people present.

Awful service. I called to ask if I needed an appointment for my car's inspection. After 10 minutes being transferred among automated responses, when I finally got to the one on inspections ("Press 4"), I was disconnected. So I went to the DMV chat line. The response to the question, "Must I make an appointment to have my car inspected?" was to require the make, model and year of the car, which I supplied, after which I was told I was being referred to a lawyer to answer the question, at a cost I needed to pay in advance, albeit only $5.00. All I wanted to know is if I had to make an appointment or could I just show up! It was an utter waste of time as well as frustrating and, with the request for money to answer a question that should have been available online, insulting.

Superb. I went for an automobile inspection. I was about 5th online and the wait was minimal. Once with the inspectors, they were friendly, courteous and competent. An enormous change from the telephone service I called to locate a nearby DMV facility. The 'phone call took 15 minutes to get to the part where the recording told me to push 4 for Inspections and then disconnected me. Finally getting through to the website chat (not the 'phone line, on which I'd given up), I typed in my question (Where is the nearest DMV office and will I need to call for an appointment?), I was forwarded to a site where, FOR $5.00, I would be referred to a lawyer to answer my question (as a reminder, the question was, "Do I need to make an appointment to have my car inspected?"). Utterly incompetent, frustrating and disappointing.
