Woodstock SOS Office

On May 6 my husband and I went to the Woodstock DMV with a letter from our doctor for a handicap plaque for my husband. He is having brain surgery on May 22. We had no idea that it is was for a permanent plaque, as we had gotten temporary ones in the past. Alma explained how we'd need to proceed for this plaque, and that it would take about 2 months for it to come. She could see my concern, and after my explanation of impending surgery, she went to her supervisor, and got permission to fax and expedite the application to Springfield. Minutes after we left the DMV she called me, my husband had forgotten to sign the application. The DMV was closed ,but she waited for us to return, came out to the car, so he could sign it, then called us yesterday with an update on the status of the application. We are so grateful for her going up and beyond her job to help us.

Went to the Woodstock Office at 7:30am, because I was unable to get an appointment for the driving test. I was prepared to wait until they could fit me in. I happened to be the first one there and was pleasantly surprised when the intake person said that my wait would only be about ten minutes. I was checked in, eyes examined, photo taken and was in my car performing my driving test by 8:20. I was on the way home by 8:50 am. All of the personnel I had contact with were very kind and the process efficient. Much better than when I renewed my license previously.

I learned that now seniors need to make an appointment,. I called and was given erroneous information. I travelled 35 minutes to the locstion.
