New Castle Delaware DMV Reviews and Tips
I love this location, fast and professional services with a very good customer service and I expected a much longer wait for the amount of people but it exceeded my expectation because the staff was very pleasantly and i was surprised because the staff are great and keep our company and schedule went as planned. Normally, this place is really nice with great service and the location was not difficult to find and it was prior to covid-19 and I was in and out in 15 minutes or less.

The staff was really welcoming, had typical COVID screening procedures. I had my kids with me and the workers were incredibly pleasant to them. Was easy to find and had tons of parking.

Usually a long wait but during the pandemic it was much shorter as I usually go right when they open so I don't have to experience a long line/wait. Staff always get the job done. For covid procedures we had to maintain social distance as we waited involving sitting in seats not side by side. Overall better experience during these times then when I have gone in the past. Usually give the tip of going right as they open.

I came in today to switch my ID from South Carolina to Delaware. What followed was one of the most disorganized and careless experiences I have had dealing with any government office.
No one wore a name badge. No one introduced themselves. The staff treated customers like an interruption to their day rather than the reason they are there.
Here is what put this over the line: the employee handling my documents dropped my Social Security card on the floor. She did not notice. A security guard found it and turned it in. I only got it back because of that. Think about that for a second. A federal identity document, dropped, unnoticed, in a public government office. What if a stranger had picked it up first? What if the security guard had not been paying attention? The carelessness required for that to happen is not a small thing.
I am filing a formal complaint with the DMV director's office, contacting DelDOT customer service, and reaching out to the Governor's office directly. I am leaving this review because people deserve to know before they walk in there with their most sensitive documents.
Watch everything you hand over. Do not leave that counter until you have confirmed every document is back in your possession. Do not assume they are tracking it.
