My Morning at Delaware DMV Inspection: Monday: 9-8-25.
My name is Joann M. Bates. I am an older, white female. This morning, I was in the lane for vehicle inspection: second lane from my left being used at this time. I pulled up as next in line, and a thin, boisterous, very loud, black man yelled to stop! I am not sure of his name. So, I pressed quickly down on my brakes and came to a quick stop. He made me repeat this action four times. When I asked him why at the second interval, he yelled at me to start over again. I asked him why? He did not answer. Again, I said: Did I not pass inspection, He said: “NO”.
He stated, “I have to do this again”. So, I repeated this scenario AGAIN! And AGAIN! All the while my questions being ignored. The last time I asked him again if I passed inspection, he totally ignored me, and yelled loudly for me to move to the next station. But! I was not moving, until he answered my question; especially after being harassed and yelled at throughout this whole experience. At this time a white woman, at the loudness of his statements, came out of her booth, ahead and to the right of me, and kindly, and calmly asked: “what is the problem?”. I told her briefly what happened, then I proceeded to ask her if my brakes passed inspection, she said politely: “Yes, they did”. At that time, I proceeded to the next phase of completion for inspection and Passed, where I was treated with respect, by an older white gentleman in a calm professional manner. Nothing wrong with my BRAKES.
As an educated Professional in Human Relations; I am appalled at the Behavior and Disrespect displayed by this Disgruntled Employee of the State of Delaware! Most Terrible Customer Service, I ever Experienced in My Life….
Respectfully,
Joann M. B

Friendly staff members. They have reduced their capacity at this location. So wait time is a bit longer than pre-covid. If you have any questions you can either call or chat online with a customer representative ( I personally found that to be very helpful).
Usually a long wait but during the pandemic it was much shorter as I usually go right when they open so I don't have to experience a long line/wait. Staff always get the job done. For covid procedures we had to maintain social distance as we waited involving sitting in seats not side by side. Overall better experience during these times then when I have gone in the past. Usually give the tip of going right as they open.
The staff was really welcoming, had typical COVID screening procedures. I had my kids with me and the workers were incredibly pleasant to them. Was easy to find and had tons of parking.
I love this location, fast and professional services with a very good customer service and I expected a much longer wait for the amount of people but it exceeded my expectation because the staff was very pleasantly and i was surprised because the staff are great and keep our company and schedule went as planned. Normally, this place is really nice with great service and the location was not difficult to find and it was prior to covid-19 and I was in and out in 15 minutes or less.
