Norwalk Connecticut DMV Reviews and Tips
This was right in the midst of the pandemic, so procedures were pretty new. Considering that part it went pretty smoothly. The traffic right around here can get heavy. More importantly, the parking lot seems to fill up much more than it looks like it should. You'll probably find a place and there are other lots around but just be prepared to be frustrated. The staff was OK, not remarkable. I've been to the Old Saybrook DMV and it was much smoother there, but nothing seems to be smooth in Norwalk. All in all it wasn't the worst DMV experience I've ever had.

The staff is really friendly and they are taking all precautions related to Covid 19. There is ample parking , since many services are available online it is easy to go in and out.

My appointment today 3/6/24 was at 1:15 I was there to renew my drivers license and wanted to get a real Id. I was born and raised in the USA, have lived at the same CT address for over 30 years, and had a valid CT Drivers License. After waiting an hour until 2:15, I was finally directed to IVEL.Z at station #5 (I asked for her name as they do not wear name tags ) I had my CT drivers license, 2 pieces of mail addressed to me, and my US passport. Ivel Z told me this was not sufficient, she was unhelpful , dismissive and rude, she handed me a sheet concerning requisites. When I asked her to wait while I went to my car to get the registration she actually waved me off, cancelled my appointment and told me she was done with me. After waiting an hour for my appointment she could not wait 5 minutes while I went to my car. Terrible customer service, unhelpful, unsympathetic, rude and dismissive. I would give IVEL Z 0 stars if possible.
I will say the manager made it right. I was sent to another teller #3, who though friendly with Ivel and as unhelpful as possible did finally manage to get my Real ID after 2 hours at the Norwalk DMV.

Hello,
Temporary handicap parking permits in Connecticut are only valid for six months. Once your temporary parking placard expires, you will need to apply for a new one by filling out Form B-225T: https://portal.ct.gov/-/media/DMV/20/29/B225Tpdf.pdf.
Part B of the form will need to be completed by a physician, physician's assistant, psychiatrist, or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Applications for temporary parking placards may not be submitted through fax or email, therefore you must submit your application in person at a Connecticut DMV office location.
If your temporary handicap parking placard was lost, stolen, or damaged, you will need to fill out a different form, Form B-225P: https://portal.ct.gov/-/media/DMV/20/29/B225Ppdf.pdf and make sure to check the "replacement" box. If your parking placard has an expiration date, you will only need to fill out Part A of the form.
Temporary parking permits have a $5 replacement fee.
