Colorado Springs Colorado DMV Reviews and Tips
The staff at this particular location was not overly helpful, but they weren't rude. They answered questions if you had them, but they were not very forthcoming with over information. The parking was fine. It was not super packed so I easily found a space to park pretty close to the location. I would recommend that if you are going to this location to arrive a little bit before they open as a line usually forms outside and you can be one of the first ones instead of having to wait forever for your turn. The wait time is still long, but not as bad as if you go later in the day.

I am writing this formal complaint on Kim E. I’d like to make it clear that I have a disability. I have been calling the DMV’s trying to figure out my plates. Upon calling, I am told two different numbers on how much my plates will cost… off paperwork I have I’m showing one number and that number is being shown online when I get an estimate as well…. But when you call the DMV, they are quoting almost $200 extra… I have been told by my dealership that the MSRP number that the DMV has could be wrong…. I was informed that I could come in and request temp plates while we figure this out…. Upon walking up to Kim, I stated “ the dmv and dealership have the MSN number wrong and I need new temp plates” she replied with “I need a bill of sale” upon my phone calls and communication with the DMV I was told I did not need a bill of sale I brought in what I was told and required… in her mind, she saw this as arguing… I was trying to inform her that I brought what I was required, and I said what I was told to say… I have always gotten temp plates with temp registration.. which I was trying to explain… I told her I do not have bill of sale paperwork. I only have emails, but that I didn’t think that she would give me enough time to pull that… she then communicated that she doesn’t even know what a MSN number is…. I waited two hours to be seen and she was trying to tell me that I needed to get back in line and try again with a different teller. I tried telling her that I keep being told different things by different people and I just need to get these temp plates… over the phone. I was told that it depends on who you get on how long of temp tags you get…. She decided to tell me that I was only allowed to receive 10…. I feel like this Was deliberate act against me… she never asked for insurance or to see my registration paper. All she took was my ID and then gave me the temp tag. If it was that simple I don’t understand why she treated me like a child I’m 25 and she told me I was arguing and didn’t know what I was talking about only to end up doing exactly what I was trying to do… I want to make it clear that the only reason why I have my temp tags now is because of my persistence on the confusion of the situation.. I then asked her if there was somebody that I could speak to about this encounter… she said that she is the leadership and she is in charge and I said that thats not always the case there’s always somebody above… she was adamant, but then finally agreed that there is somebody… but refused to give me a way… I then went to the front desk lady and asked to speak to someone. That is when I realized that you guys do not have a way to write a formal complaint even in location. I want to say I spoke to Madison… I’m trying to inform Madison of the situation and she agreed that yes she is in leadership role… I ended both conversations with both ladies the same way “ I find it very unprofessional to have that type of person in leadership role if they are unable to de-escalate or help their clients solve confused situations appropriately” at the time it did not seem that either cared or were adamant about the situation or how it was handled. I did find out that there is no audio on the cameras, but if that is a possibility to be changed, I highly recommend it… not only causes an unsafe environment for your clients, but I feel like it would also provide a safety net for your workers if a situation happens like this. This situation happened just after 11 am on Thursday april 16,2026.

My question is DMV never gave me a problem when I had to change my license for the state of Colorado as long as I have documents and social security card under my new name you never asked for my birth certificate so what change
Birth Certificates are required for Real ID or Enhanced IDs. It's possible that 4 years ago you just got a regular Colorado ID, The new Enhanced IDs allow for Travel in airports and access to federal buildings with out carrying your passport or passport card.
