Colorado DMV and DOR Offices Closed Friday, June 19 for Juneteenth Observance

- Colorado's Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the Department of Revenue (DOR) announced that all driver license offices, motor vehicle offices, and tax service offices statewide will be closed on Friday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. Juneteenth is a federal and state holiday that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and is recognized as a day of reflection and celebration. Because the holiday falls on a Friday this year, there will be no in‑person services offered at DMV or DOR offices across Colorado on June 19. The closure applies to all driver license offices, vehicle registration counters, title and registration sections, tax payer service centers, and state‑run driver exam stations. Customers who planned to visit an office for a driver’s license renewal, identification card, title transfer, license plate transaction or tax‑related appointment should reschedule or plan to conduct business on a different day. All offices will reopen for regular business on Monday, June 22.
- The Colorado DMV notes that while physical locations will be closed, many services are available online through the myDMV portal at mydmv.colorado.gov and the Department of Revenue website. Residents can renew a driver license or identification card, order a duplicate credential, update their address, pay vehicle registration renewals, calculate registration fees and taxes, and print renewal receipts online. The DOR’s Revenue Online platform also allows taxpayers to file returns, make payments, and check the status of refunds without visiting an office. Customers can also use DMV’s live chat feature or call center to ask questions and obtain guidance during regular weekday business hours outside of the holiday.
- Coloradans are encouraged to take advantage of these online tools to avoid long lines when offices reopen. The DMV also reminds customers to bring proper identification documents if visiting an office after the holiday, especially for Real ID‑compliant credentials. The Real ID deadline, set by the Department of Homeland Security, requires travelers to have a Real ID license or ID card to board domestic flights and enter certain federal facilities. Colorado DMV offices can convert existing credentials to Real IDs during renewal or replacement transactions.
- By closing on Juneteenth, the State of Colorado joins government agencies across the country in honoring this important milestone in American history. The Division of Motor Vehicles and Department of Revenue appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation. Anyone needing immediate services should complete transactions online prior to June 19 or wait until offices reopen on Monday. For more information, visit dmv.colorado.gov or colorado.gov/revenue.
