Merced CA DMV Field Office

There is this one rude employee who is well known as the rude person. He denied my documents in processing the real ID during the last trip, so this was my second visit. Instead of processing the real ID, he just gave me a regular ID not usable in some federal situations, if I recall correctly. And I told the different employee during the second visit about what has happened with the rude person, and he told me that it is well known and there is nothing they can do to get rid of him. So I asked if I can get a refund for the fees I paid last time for the useless id, and the manager said, no. And the location was under social distancing orders and letting people in only a few at a time. It's the worst DMV I have ever been to, and I lived all over this country, Massachusetts, Washington, New Mexico, and couple of cities in California

There are two lines outside, one for appointments and the other for non appointments. Be patient with the door person, they seem overwhelmed. Once inside all employees were extremely friendly and helpful.

Appointment line is a little confusing with the Covid measures. The person has a little bit at customer relations but to give them the benefit of the doubt they are dealing with frustrated people waiting in long lines all day. Once I got in everything went smoothly and everyone inside was very efficient and helpful.
