Santa Barbara DMV Field Office

The location was very easy to find and there was plenty of parking. They had quick and easy procedures to follow with COVID-19. All staff was wearing the appropriate protective gear. I was able to check in outside, received a number, and was texted when it was my turn. The wait felt very short and the staff was super helpful and friendly. Once I was inside I was able to be in and out in 5 minutes. I was going in to get a Real ID. I would recommend starting the process online, as it really expedites the appointment time. You're able to fill out the initial paperwork so when you go to the office they just need a few documents to verify and they take a quick picture.

I wish to commend the fine work of Laura Ontiano (not sure of spelling). She expedited my drivers license and moved along briskly my application for California plates as I have moved from out of state. She never lost her concentration or patience and was the picture of professionalism. Something similar should be said about another staffer at the SB DMV, Rich. He did a great, thorough job. It took quite some time to get to those two, but once I did, things went a whole lot better.
