No one is allowed to accompany a customer into the testing area while a knowledge test is being taken except for interpreters. Drive Tests Drive tests are given by appointment only. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please call (503) 299-9999.
If there is inclement weather, drive tests may be cancelled or traction devices may be required. Please check the Special Notices or confirm your drive test by calling the office.

Portland Oregon DMV Reviews and Tips
I had to make an appointment far in advance. This is because of COVID. They only had about 3 customers in the whole place. The only thing I really disliked was when I was asked to pull my mask down for a photo while indoors. I had to spend extra time unmasked because the photographer wanted the line on my face from the mask to disappear before he was willing to take the photo. This put me in an uncomfortable position. All in all, however I achieved what I hoped to achieve which was to renew my license. Most of the wait was waiting for my face to stop showing the mask lines. There were not many people in the building.
The reason I had to wait so long to get the appointment is that they only allow a handful of people at a time during COViD. Expect to have to wait a month for your appointment. The location was easy to find using my gps and there was also more than ample parking.
