I had a very pleasant experience at this Smithfield DMV office when I went to get my driver's license renewed. I am sorry I didn't get the name of the pleasant man who took care of me today. Hubby and I checked in shortly before 11 a.m. and within minutes, our numbers were called. This office has a lobby with several rows of seats and also restrooms nearby so even if we would have had to wait a while, it wouldn't have been bad. We each had the identification required for Real IDs, and all that was checked quickly before we were sent to the adjoining lobby to listen for our numbers. The whole visit from start to finish was fast and efficient. Thank you, "Mr. Station 4" (that's the station the nice man that helped me was working today)--I'm truly sorry I didn't get your name. Does this office take walk ins to renew your license?

During the pandemic, the North Carolina DMV offices began allowing walk-ins for services such as renewing your license. However, walk-ins can only be serviced if there is a gap between customers who have appointments. That being said, it is best to make an appointment just in case there are no gaps.
