Chicago Illinois SOS Reviews and Tips
The line looks insanely long, but don't be intimidated by that. It's mostly because of social distancing. Some staff come out to take information while you're in line, which also helps. Definitely try to get there before noon. Otherwise, it's a DMV. What else can you say? They're helpful enough.

Easy to find, parking can fill up later in the day. Crazy long line is for drivers licenses but wait for dealing with plates and registration wasn't too bad

Parking was great but the wait was very long due to covid. Line wrapped around the building and people were turned away at a certain time or if the line was too long.

Cannot even describe what a Kafkaesque nightmare this place is. The stress and down right mean treatment they smugly inflicted on me was truly unreal . It was MY fault they lost the check I gave them, it was MY fault the check was later found and held up in Springfield because the issue involved a transfer of ownership with an out of state death. It was MY fault my mother had the nerve to pass away in a different state thus inconveniencing the state of Illinois DMV employees with paperwork they didn’t like, or were not accustomed to handling, so the check for 316.00 they received on October 6th sat till December 30th. No action was taken for just under four months on me getting my title or plates. I was scolded like a child for being upset by this. Trust me you do not want to speak with Gail. The nurse Ratchett of this facility. Each issue with this facility has required two trips to them and two trips to my bank. The last forced revisit I asked specifically not to speak with Gail, I was even promised I will not have to see Gail, guess who I end up being once again stuck begging to for resolution?? Gail. You would think they got a bonus for each tax payer they insult and rattle to the point of tears, then mock you for crying. Beyond just bad bureaucracy, truly demeaning treatment. I fear by posting this my title is already being shredded and plates will again “get lost in the mail”. I would drive to Springfield directly before I would subject myself to ever going to this facility. I do not trust them at all. I am certain there will be no outreach, apology or even the slightest “let’s look into this” by posting this account. They get 5 stars for condescension and blame shifting.
