San Clemente California DMV Reviews and Tips
I had to resolve an issue with the transfer of a title for a automobile that I had sold the year before. This was shortly after the covid re opening of the dmv offices. I knew that the DMV website has a notice saying that the dmv field offices were only taking appointments. They were able to talk to me and help me settle my issue . Even though the line I was in was long they came outside and talked to people to let them know what services they were offering. The people with appointments were helped very quickly. I was happy to get everything done quite quickly.

This DMV is much more organized than the ones I had to go to in the past. I didn't even mind the wait because it wasn't very long.

I had a wonderful experience at the San Clemente DMV this morning. The three employees who assisted me were all helpful and efficient. They smiled! I was expecting a long wait without an appointment but was in and out in 40 minutes. Great job and keep up the good work.

By comparison to the Laguna Hills DMV, the San Clemente DMV hands down is a far better experience. It was worth driving the extra miles. Well organized, nicer atmosphere, more pleasant personnel.

Painfully ineffective. Been waiting for 2.5 hours, still not being helped.

BEWARE !! I just wanted to let everyone out there know about a driving instructor at the San Clemente DMV office, who does the behind-the-wheel driving tests. I didn't get his name unfortunately, but he's a middle aged, medium build, slow walking jerk, who made my grand daughter cry after her driving test !! I can't describe him other than he acts like he's so very cool, to have this crappy job, and so he feels like he has to have total control over this situation and these young kids. He's got this small amount of power, so he feels he really needs to throw his weight around. Our young kids are nervous enough, and I know, driving on these streets is something to be very serious about, but I feel they could maybe use a little compassion and understanding here, not be bullied !!
Thankfully this dude did pass her, and taking off 10 points for some stupid things, where she really errored on the safety side of the pedestrians. But then he proceeded to sit in the car, after the test, and belittled and humiliated her to tears. I understand that a DMV instructor has a rough job, and I'm sure very stressful at times, but I think with the demeanor and sensitivity that this a*****e showed, he should not be working with the public at all !! He is definately not understanding or respectful to these young children of ours,....who come to the DMV, in hopes of getting their license. I would also suspect that he does the same thing with adults !
Also, he took her to a round-about in a San Clemente neighborhood, where he yelled at her for being cautious ! She'd never seen a round about before, let a lone drive around one. And I don't even know if it's on any mention of one in any DMV study material about them ? Approaching it she slowed down naturally, looking for other cars approaching from the other directions, as there were arrows and lines all over, and yet what does our big man do,....yells " don't slow down".
Anyway, I'm telling all of you that are reading this, go find another DMV, and avoid getting this jerk as you or your child's instructor !!

Well, I took my grand daughter to the San Clemente DMV, and they were the worst !! They were rude and not very helpful. The driving instructor in particular!! I didn't get his name, but he was middle aged and strolled along as if he was thinking, "oh hell another student driver" !! He acted as if he was so superior to us, and that he was the man in charge !!
He was very condescending to both me, and to my grand daughter.
In the car my grand daughter told me he was not vey helpful to her, or giving her good advice. He took her to a round-about, which she had never seen before, and instead of may explaining when she should be doing, he was yelling, "don't slow down, keep going.",....right in front of a yield sign.
After her behind-the-wheel road test, he proceeded to sit in the car and bully her for about 10 minutes, over nothing !! He passed her, yet still had to show his power over her, to the point of making her cry !!
These 16 year old kids are nervous enough trying to pass their drivers test, and instead of making them feel at ease and calm, he made them so afraid that it's no wonder they don't pass !! Now I'm sure that a driving instructor has a very intense job and I know that they have many many people come in to get their drivers license, but I think a little understanding goes a long way !! Not sure that this guy even likes his job ???
Room for improvement: yep, fire his ass !!

Move to another state. Website said 37 minute wait so I went. Almost 3 hours to get a ticket. Now 90 tickets ahead of me 3 hours more. How hard can it be to run like a business, add a night shift, weekends or use more third party vendors.
