West Virginia REAL ID Requirements
REAL ID in West Virginia
The REAL ID Act was passed in 2005 as a way to ramp up security measures post 9/11.
Soon, a federally accepted ID (such as a passport or REAL ID) will be required to:

- Enter a nuclear power plant.
WV REAL IDs are marked with a gold star in the upper-right corner.
You must visit a Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office to obtain a REAL ID for the first time. Consider making an appointment in advance.
