Cranston DMV Office: 600 New London Ave.

They've really stepped up their game in recent years. Wait times are far lower than they used to be. I don't have to handle things at AAA anymore! Great job, Rhode Island. I do think people could be a little happier still, but hey, it's government work.

Long wait times and unhelpful staff

The wait time during a pandemic was so much better than non pandemic wait. It was much more structured and a better overall experience. They should keep appointments for this from now on.

I visited the DMV Headquarters in Cranston, RI to complete an application for a Real ID. I brought all required documentation and had my paperwork in order, but the wait was borderline unacceptable. Even with an appointment I had to wait outside due to the pandemic procedures at the time. When I was finally let in, the staff member who helped me was struggling to fill out my details. She must have been new, which I can't fault her for, and it may have been the ancient computers they were using that also contributed to the problems. All in all the visit took about 90 minutes when it could have taken 30 if everything had worked correctly. I am disappointed with how this visit went.

Great location and easy to get to with very helpful staff!

I thought everything went pretty smoothly all things considered. I showed up 10 minutes before my appointment and I was in and out very quickly. Make sure you bring everything you need because they will not have sympathy for you. If you are missing something, you will need to leave and make a new appointment.
