Rhode Island REAL ID Requirements
Rhode Island REAL ID
Beginning in October 2021, people in the US will no longer be able to use a driver’s license or state ID to:
- Board a flight (even for domestic travel).
- Enter a nuclear power plant.
- Enter certain federal facilities.
These tasks will require a passport or federally accepted REAL ID. A standard ID or license will still be sufficient to complete the other tasks you use them for.
Rhode Island REAL IDs have a gold star in the upper-right corner.
To apply for a REAL ID in Rhode Island, you must visit a Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office and present additional documents. Consider making an appointment to skip the line.
