The State of Alaska is rolling out brand new plates tags designs for 2023 as part of its Department of Administration's Division of Motor Vehicles.

The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is the state agency responsible for issuing driver's licenses, vehicle titles, and registrations and overseeing enforcing motor vehicle laws. The DMV also administers the state's Mandatory Insurance Law and investigates insurance fraud.

Since its inception, the DMV has made great strides in improving the safety of Alaska's roads and protecting the public from uninsured drivers. Thanks to the hard work of DMV employees and partnering agencies, Alaska now boasts some of the country's lowest rates of drunk driving and uninsured motorists.

The DMV continues to work toward its goal of providing excellent customer service while ensuring the safety of all Alaskans on our roads.
In addition to its core duties, the DMV has a long-standing commitment to protecting the environment. The DMV is a proud Alaska Clean Vehicle Partnership partner, providing incentives and information on electric and alternative fuel vehicles. In 2018, 56% of all vehicles registered by the DMV were alternative fuel and zero-emission vehicles.

The DMV also works to educate Alaskans on safe driving and energy efficiency with programs like Safe Drive Alaska and Drive Smart Alaska. These initiatives aim to ensure drivers understand new roadway laws and ways to reduce vehicle emissions by following basic maintenance schedules.
