Bad Axe Secretary of State Office to Temporarily Close for Renovations

Michigan State Capitol

Residents who frequent the Secretary of State office in Bad Axe will need to adjust their plans as the facility, located at 33 Patrick Dr., closes its doors for two weeks starting Monday, June 5. The office is undergoing a remodeling project but plans to resume normal service by 9 a.m. on Monday, June 19.

The renovation project includes changes to the counter, fresh carpeting, a new coat of paint, and some electrical updates. During this period, residents are encouraged to use online services for most transactions via Michigan.gov/SOS, where Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson's administration has doubled the number of available services.

Those who still require in-person services have alternatives. Self-service stations offering instant registration, driver’s licenses, and ID renewals, among other transactions, are accessible. One such station is located at the Meijer store at 100 Pigeon Road in Bad Axe.

Appointments can be scheduled at nearby offices for those requiring specific Secretary of State services that necessitate an office visit during the renovation period. These include the SOS Office @ 277 E. Sanilac Road facilities in Sandusky and 150 Millwood Street in Caro SOS Office. Appointments can be arranged via the Michigan.gov/SOS website or by calling 888-767-6424. Both alternative offices operate weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Wednesdays, when hours are extended from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

This transition period may cause minor inconvenience, but the ultimate aim is to provide a better service environment for residents upon completion of the renovation project.
