REAL ID for Arizona Residents
REAL ID in Arizona
REAL ID is not mandatory for Arizona drivers or residents. However, beginning in October 2021, you’ll need a federally accepted ID (such as a REAL ID or passport) to:
- Board a plane.
- Enter certain federal facilities.
- Enter nuclear power plants.
In AZ, an ID that complies with the REAL ID Act is called a “Travel ID.” These are marked with a gold star in the upper-right corner.
A Travel ID requires more documentation than a standard ID or license.
