Virtual MVD station brings services to Fredonia after wildfire evacuations

On August 13, 2025, the Arizona Department of Transportation’s Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) announced that it had installed a TeleMVD station at the Fredonia Port of Entry to help residents displaced by the Dragon Bravo Fire. The wildfire forced evacuations and road closures in northern Arizona, making it difficult for people in the area to visit traditional MVD offices in Page and Flagstaff. ADOT set up the TeleMVD kiosk so that locals could continue to access driver licensing and vehicle services without travelling long distances during an emergency.

TeleMVD is a secure video‑conferencing system that connects customers with MVD representatives in real time. At the Fredonia kiosk, customers can renew their driver’s licenses, replace lost identification cards, order speciality plates and complete title and registration transactions. The station includes a computer, printer, scanner and payment terminal so that documents can be viewed, signed and printed on the spot. During the announcement, MVD Director Eric Jorgensen said the new service ensures that people in the region have access to critical motor‑vehicle services while regular offices remain inaccessible due to the fire.

The TeleMVD station is located inside the Fredonia Port of Entry near State Route 89A and is open Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Customers are encouraged to schedule appointments or check current wait times via the MVD’s online portal at azmvdnow.gov. The agency also reminds drivers that many routine transactions, including registration renewals and address changes, can be completed online. TeleMVD provides an important alternative for those who need in‑person service but cannot safely travel to another office.

Local officials say the remote service is a welcome resource for evacuees and residents, allowing them to maintain legal driving status and complete necessary paperwork while staying close to home. ADOT and the MVD will continue to monitor conditions around the Dragon Bravo Fire and may expand TeleMVD services if needed.
