Virginia Motorists Encouraged to Use State’s DMV Website
Making Life Easier for Virginia Drivers
Recently, the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles released a press release touting its online appointment system. Designed to save time for DMV employees and drivers looking to take care of their business efficiently, the new system gives motorists a QR code that allows them to bypass the information line upon entering the DMV. For those looking to shave precious minutes off of their daily errands, this can be incredibly helpful. After those with appointments have checked in, they will be directed to a customer service agent as soon as one becomes available.
Walk-Ins Are Still Accepted
It is important to note that a DMV agent will still serve walk-ins as time allows. However, those with appointments will take priority. Those unsure about setting up online appointments can take comfort in that Virginia's online system has been up and running since 2020. Over the past two years, a whopping 7.7 million appointments have been made through the system.
Drivers Are Encouraged to Be Responsible with Appointments
For the new system to function at the highest efficiency, customers are encouraged to arrive within 15 minutes of their scheduled time. They are also urged to use the online system to cancel or reschedule their appointment if something comes up, allowing another driver to take the time slot. This keeps the system running smoothly, cutting down on wait times for all.
