Oregonians Encouraged to Apply for Real ID

Eugene residents are encouraged to get their REAL ID as soon as possible to alleviate crowded wait times as demand is expected to increase as the 2023 deadline approaches.

Starting May 3, 2023, Oregonians will need more than a driver's license at airport security checkpoints to boarding an airline. Residents will need a Real ID-compliant driver's license or ID card, a passport, or other federally acceptable ID such as military ID.

Oregonians can renew their license in exchange for the Real ID if a driver's license expires within the following year. As a passport is one of the acceptable qualifying documents for the Real ID, you may want to renew your key if it expires before the May Real ID deadline. If you do not have a passport, residents must apply for one. That can be done in a few ways. Those wanting to renew or obtain a visa may do so at the U.S. Department of State.

Other qualifying documents for the Real ID and the checklist can be located at DMV2U.

Due to customer growth, the Eugene Department of Motor Vehicles has permanently relocated to 499 Valley River Center. The new location is outside the mall on the northwest side of the Valley River Center Mall property.

Business hours will remain 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday except for Wednesdays when the office opens at 10 am.

Appointments are necessary for a driving test. Use dmv2u.oregon.gov/eServices to make an appointment at this office. Customers can change or cancel appointments. If charges are complete, check back after 5 pm on Mondays.

For other services, customers should first check DMV2U.Oregon.gov to see if the service is available 24/7 online.
