NYS DMV Free Car Seat Inspections Offered in Niagara, Erie, Columbia, and Orange Counties.

Child Car Seat Safety Inspection

The Governor's Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) is offering free car seat checks by certified child passenger safety technicians across Niagara, Erie, Columbia, and Orange Counties in New York. The initiative aims to help parents and caregivers ensure that their children are secured safely while traveling in vehicles.

The events will take place on Saturday, May 6 in Lewiston and Buffalo, Tuesday, May 9 in Lockport, Tuesday, May 16 in Ransomville, Saturday, May 6 in Hudson, Saturday, May 13 in Ghent, Monday, May 8 in Middletown, and Sunday, May 21 in Newburgh.

The free car seat checks are part of a year-round safety initiative involving state and local law enforcement agencies and various community safety partners. Trained technicians will use the "Learn, Practice, and Explain" model to educate parents and caregivers on how to choose and properly install the appropriate seat for their child's age, size, and vehicle, ensuring it can be used correctly every time.
