NY DMV: Road Test Appointments Relocated in Queens and Westchester Counties

New York’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has announced relocations for upcoming road test appointments in Queens and Westchester counties. According to the DMV’s cancellations, closings and delays page, the moves are intended to keep scheduled appointments on track while infrastructure projects and logistical changes affect testing locations. Rather than cancelling tests outright, the agency is redirecting drivers to nearby sites, preserving the same dates and times for appointments.

For Queens County, the DMV explained that two blocks of road tests originally set to take place at the Laurelton Road Test Site have been moved. Road tests scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025 between 11:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. will now occur at the Springfield Gardens Road Test Site. Similarly, appointments scheduled at Laurelton on Thursday, August 29, 2025 during the same 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. time window are being relocated to Springfield Gardens. The Springfield Gardens site, located at 149 ‑18 Springfield Boulevard, Springfield Gardens, NY 11413, will administer the tests at the exact same appointment times that were reserved at Laurelton. Customers should not go to the Laurelton site, as staff will not be present to administer tests there during those times.

In Westchester County, all road test appointments that were slated for the White Plains Road Test Site from Monday, August 19 through Friday, September 5, 2025 are being relocated to the New Rochelle Road Test Site. The change is necessary because ongoing road work near the White Plains location would disrupt the safe conduct of road tests. As with the Queens relocations, appointment dates and times remain unchanged. The New Rochelle Road Test Site is located at 750 Central Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 10801. Applicants are encouraged to allow extra travel time, as they may need to navigate different traffic patterns or unfamiliar streets to reach the alternate site.

The DMV is urging all affected customers to review their appointment confirmations for the updated address and to ensure they bring all required documents to the rescheduled location. In New York, applicants must present their learner permits, any required course completion certificates, and a vehicle that meets inspection standards. Arriving at the wrong site or without proper documentation can result in having to reschedule. The DMV’s cancellations, closings and delays page will continue to provide up‑to‑date information on any future changes to road test sites. Drivers who have questions or need to reschedule may contact the DMV through its road test customer service line or use the agency’s online rescheduling tool. By staying informed and prepared, applicants can ensure their road test experience remains smooth despite these temporary relocations.
