The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Governors Highway Safety Association (GTSC) are raising awareness about using seat belts in the back seat.

In a joint press conference, NHTSA Administrator and GTSC Executive Director emphasized the importance of buckling up in the back seat. “Wearing a seat belt in the back seat is just as important as wearing one in the front seat,” said NHTSA Administrator. “In fact, in some states, it’s actually the law.”

The two groups have launched a campaign to educate people about the risks of not wearing a seat belt in the back seat. They use television, radio, and print advertisements to get the message out.

The campaign also encourages people to talk to their friends and family about the dangers of not wearing a seat belt in the back seat. “It’s important to have conversations with people in your family and social circles about the importance of buckling up,” said GTSC Executive Director.

NHTSA and GTSC are also working with state governments to pass legislation that would make it mandatory to wear a seat belt in the back seat. Several states have already passed such laws, and more are expected to follow suit.

“We’re confident that with the help of the NHTSA and GTSC, more people will be aware of the importance of wearing a seat belt in the back seat,” said GTSC Executive Director. “It’s a simple step that can save lives.”

The NHTSA and GTSC hope their campaign will help reduce the fatalities caused by not wearing a seat belt in the back seat. “It’s not just about following the law. It’s about protecting yourself and others,” said NHTSA Administrator. “Please, buckle up in the back seat, and help us spread the word.”
