Montana MVD's Stevensville Office Relocating to Hamilton for Enhanced Services

The Montana Motor Vehicle Division's (MVD) Stevensville office is set to move to a new, more central location in Hamilton, offering improved customer experiences and a wider range of services. The move comes into effect starting Monday, June 26, according to an official statement from the MVD.

The new office, located at 1720 N 1st Street in Hamilton, offers expanded square footage for both examiners and customers, ensuring enhanced privacy during transactions. Additionally, the facility includes on-site parking with ADA-accessible spots, a feature absent in the current Stevensville location.

The move also introduces the capability for examiners to conduct commercial driver license testing at the nearby Ravalli Fairgrounds, starting this summer.

A survey conducted in August 2021 indicated strong public support for the relocation, with 84% of the 420 customers surveyed expressing approval for moving the MVD services to Hamilton.

"We are continuously looking for ways to improve the service and experience for Montanans across the state and look forward to serving the citizens of Ravalli County in our new office in Hamilton," said Montana Motor and Vehicle Division Administrator Laurie Bakri.

However, to facilitate the transition, the current office at 102 Main Street, Suite A, Stevensville, will be closed on June 22 and 23. During this period, an MVD mobile unit will be stationed in the parking lot of the new Hamilton location to offer driver services. The unit will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, and from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23, with a lunch break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Services offered by the mobile unit include renewal or replacement of Standard and Commercial Driver Licenses, REAL ID Standard, or Class D licenses, and processing of out-of-state transfers for applicants with a current and valid out-of-state license. Services will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

For detailed information on required documents for each transaction, residents are advised to visit the official MVD website and check the page Driver Services.
