Louisiana OMV Introduces New Fee Structure for Unpaid Payment Plans to Encourage Prompt Payments

The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles will raise the fees for unpaid payment plans. Customers who fall behind on their payment responsibilities will now be subject to a new pricing structure from the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicle. As of March 10, 2023, Customers who have previously missed payments on an installment plan must pay a 25% down payment and the remaining balance must be paid in equal monthly installments.

Clients will be held responsible for their debts under the new price structure, and prompt payment will be encouraged. To that end, a client will be charged a 25% down payment for their new installment plan if they are inactive and fail to make their monthly payments. Before beginning a new installment plan, customers who have fallen behind on payments must also pay the 25% down payment and any additional fees.
The first payment will be required on the day the plan is entered. All subsequent payments will be made using the payment method chosen for the initial payment, unless it is changed through the client portal. If 30 days have not gone since the initial payment, The following month's payment will be deducted from your account on the 10th.


There are numerous ways to process reinstatement transactions, including by phone, mail, through a Public Tag Agent or online (PTA). Customers can find a list of PTAs that offer reinstatement services by visiting the OMV website.
The OMV wishes to remind customers that it is their duty to ensure that the funds are accessible for withdrawal and to maintain the accuracy of their payment information. Consumers can alter their payment information, make additional payments, or pay off the remaining balance on their installment plan by logging into the online installment plan customer portal at www.expresslane.org/online-services.
