The West Knox center for driver services was located at 430 Montbrook Lane, but it closed at the end of business on September 14. Knoxville residents can no longer use this facility. It is closed permanently, as decided by the state government Department of Safety and Homeland Security.

On September 19, a new center for driver services opened. Its address is 209 Gore Road SW. Also, in Knoxville, this center's hours for business are 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. every Monday through Friday.

The new Gore Road Driver Services Center is a full-service facility. Primary functions will include the issuance of driver's licenses and identification cards, as well as motor vehicle records and testing of skills, vision, and knowledge. Other services will include voter registration, applications for handgun permits, and registration for tissue and organ donation.

The Knoxville area does have several other driver services centers that residents can use. The Strawberry Plains facility is at 7320 Regions Lane, and the Alcoa facility is at 244 South Calderwood Road. Residents can also conduct a limited number of driver services tasks at participating offices of the County Clerk system.

Driver Services transactions are also possible through an e-Services portal. These include new resident services, an application for a new driver's license, and license renewal. Ordering a duplicate license, scheduling appointments, submitting payments and documents, and managing emergency contacts are possible.
