Juneteenth Closure of Nevada DMV Offices: Appointments to be Honored
All Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offices across Nevada will be closed on Monday, June 19, in observance of the newly recognized state holiday, Juneteenth, as announced by Governor Lombardo's recently signed legislation.
“We’re aware that the closure of our offices on a day where customers had appointments scheduled can be jarring,” said Eli Rohl, Public Information Officer for the Nevada DMV. In response to potential inconvenience, the Nevada DMV is assuring customers that their appointments will be honored on a walk-in basis throughout the end of June.
Rohl explained, “Whenever you have time to come in, just show us an appointment confirmation for June 19, and we’ll fit you right into our schedule.” For those without access to their appointment confirmation emails, the DMV can look up customers’ appointments at the office where the appointment was originally booked.
In addition, the DMV recognizes the need to reschedule drive exams and has begun reaching out to accommodate customers who had scheduled tests on the closure day.
Normal DMV operations will resume on Tuesday, June 20. Customers are encouraged to plan their visits accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.
The recognition of Juneteenth as a state holiday in Nevada is part of a broader national trend to acknowledge the day that marked the official end of slavery in the United States. The holiday offers an opportunity for reflection on the country's history and reaffirms Nevada's commitment to progress and equality.
