IIndiana BMV to Consolidate Versailles Branch with Batesville Location After August 28

The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) is making a significant change to its southeastern Indiana branch network this week.  A notice on the agency’s branch map explains that the **Versailles BMV branch will cease operations at the end of the day on August 28, 2025**, and services for customers in the area will be consolidated with the Batesville branch.  The announcement is part of a broader effort by the BMV to upgrade facilities and streamline service hours for Hoosiers【684705923278781†screenshot】.

According to the BMV, the Versailles office has served customers from Ripley County and surrounding communities for many years.  However, consolidating locations will allow the agency to concentrate resources at the Batesville branch while still offering customers flexible options for completing transactions.  The agency’s note reassures residents that **anyone who would normally go to Versailles can visit the Batesville office at 1132 Tekulve Road**.  After the Labor Day holiday, the Batesville branch will maintain standard business hours of **9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday**, ensuring there will be no gap in service when the Versailles location closes【684705923278781†screenshot】.

The BMV points out that many services no longer require an in‑person visit.  Hoosiers can renew their driver’s license or vehicle registration, order replacement credentials, or perform address changes online at myBMV.com or over the phone.  For transactions that still require an office visit—such as Real ID upgrades, first‑time licenses, or title work—the Batesville branch will have the same capabilities as Versailles and can accommodate customers from a wider geographic area.  The branch is located a short drive west on State Road 46 and is designed to handle increased foot traffic.

While the BMV did not provide a specific reason for closing the Versailles office, the agency has been modernizing its branch network, moving some smaller locations into larger regional hubs that offer more amenities and extended hours.  Earlier this week it also announced a relocation of the DeMotte branch to a new address and the opening of new full‑service offices in other parts of the state, signaling a continuing shift toward newer facilities.

Residents of Versailles and surrounding towns should plan ahead if they need to conduct in‑person business with the BMV before August 28.  After that date, the Batesville branch will be the nearest location for driver license and vehicle registration services.  Customers are encouraged to check myBMV.com for additional details, schedule appointments, or complete transactions online to save time and avoid potential long lines at the new consolidated branch【684705923278781†screenshot】.
