Free Car Seat Inspections and Assistance in Cortland and Hamilton Counties, Announces GTSC

The Governor's Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) is reminding parents and caregivers in Cortland County about the availability of free car seat checks by certified child passenger safety technicians. HAMILTON COUNTY, N.Y. — On the same day, a similar initiative will be underway in Hamilton County. Both events are part of a yearlong safety initiative where state and local law enforcement agencies and various community safety partners offer free car seat inspections. The program utilizes a "Learn, Practice, and Explain" model to guide parents and caregivers on selecting and installing the appropriate car seat based on their child’s age, size, and vehicle.

The GTSC's goal is to ensure every child's car seat is used correctly for each trip. Those unable to attend these events can schedule an appointment at a local fitting station.
