Free Car Seat Checks Offered in Suffolk, Erie, and Chautauqua Counties

The Governor's Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) has announced a series of free car seat checks by certified child passenger safety technicians for parents and caregivers in Suffolk, Erie, and Chautauqua counties. The events aim to educate on proper car seat selection and installation.

In Suffolk County, car seat checks will be held on Saturday, March 18, and Saturday, March 25, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the New York State Police Troop L Headquarters in Farmingdale. Erie and Chautauqua counties will host car seat checks on:

  • Saturday, March 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Erie County Sheriff's Office - North Collins Substation. Contact Deputy Trevor Williams at (716) 858-2706 or [email protected] for more information.

These events are part of a year-round safety initiative involving state and local law enforcement agencies and community safety partners. Technicians will use the "Learn, Practice, and Explain" model to help parents and caregivers properly install car seats for their child's age, size, and vehicle.
