The Driver Services Center in Bloomington Requires Appointments for Specific Procedures
The facility has had exceptionally long queues, with some customers waiting for an hour. Appointments are required for drivers who must take a road test behind the wheel, and obtain a REAL ID, a conventional driver's license, or an identification card. Below is more information on how the services center plans to apply the specific procedures.
License Renewals
The Department of State's Office of the Secretary of State is sending out letters to those whose driver's licenses and identification cards have expired, allowing them to renew their licenses online, over the phone, or in the mail. White's office is expanding the online renewal of driver's licenses and identification cards. It is predicted that the spread of remote renewal will result in a reduction of approximately one million customers who renew in person.
Requirements and Procedures
Appointment requirements apply to locations of Illinois Driver Services in Peoria, Champaign, Morris, the Dirksen Parkway office in Springfield, and other big facilities around the state.
On the ilsos.gov website, appointments can be scheduled up to ten days in advance. Beginning on December 16th, you will be required to present them at the Bloomington store at 1510 W. Market St.
Exemptions
Walk-in patients, including seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and expecting moms, will continue to be served, but these individuals still have the option to schedule an appointment.
There will be no need to schedule an appointment to complete tasks such as updating a license plate sticker or registering for a new vehicle title.
Final Information
According to White's office, the extension of the remote renewal option is expected to result in a reduction of around one million consumers who renew in person.
The date of expiration for all driver's licenses and identification cards issued in the state was extended to January 1, 2022, and the deadline for obtaining a REAL ID was earlier pushed out to May 3, 2023, by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
