DMV Honors Colorado's 150th Anniversary with Special License Plates

Colorado residents can now celebrate the state's rich history with specially designed license plates commemorating the 150th anniversary. As of Colorado Day, August 1, 2023, these license plates are available for purchase and will continue to be until July 2027.

New License Plates Celebrate History and Creativity

The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) unveiled two license plates, reflecting the stunning natural beauty and cultural heritage of the state. The plates were created based on winning designs from the Historic Colorado Contest, a statewide competition that garnered participation from more than 34,000 residents.

  • Online Purchases: The license plates can be obtained online at myDMV.Colorado.gov or at any county-operated motor vehicle office.
  • Cost: The license plates will cost $8.06 per pair, in addition to local fees.
  • Availability: They will be available until July 2027.

"I am proud to congratulate the winners whose beautiful license plates will be on vehicles across the state starting this August," said Gov. Polis.
