DC DMV Introduces Online Driver License Renewal for Mature Drivers

Default News Image

In a move that will please eligible senior drivers in the District of Columbia, the DC DMV has announced that online driver's license renewals will now be available to those 70 and older. The change went into effect on September 26, 2022. Up until this point, mature drivers had to go to a Service Center in person to renew their licenses.

The new system will require drivers to complete a Mature Driver Certification submission, including uploading a fitness-to-drive certification form completed by a licensed medical practitioner. Once the submission has been reviewed and approved, drivers can proceed with renewing their licenses online.

This is great news for anyone who may have found it difficult or inconvenient to renew their license. It's just one more way that the DC DMV is making things easier for its residents.

This is also a good reminder for everyone to ensure that their doctor or medical practitioner is up-to-date on their driver's license status. By keeping your certification form up to date, you can help avoid delays or disruptions in the renewal process.

So if you're 70 or older and looking to renew your driver's license, take advantage of this new online option. It's just one more way that the DC DMV is making things easier for its residents.
