Clovis DMV Office to Reopen October 28 After Renovation

Sacramento — The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced on Oct. 27, 2025 that its Clovis field office on Shaw Avenue will open its doors again on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The Clovis location closed after business hours on Oct. 10 so crews could perform much‑needed facility repairs. During the 2½‑week closure, contractors replaced worn flooring, installed new ceiling tiles and windows, and resurfaced and restriped the parking lot. According to the DMV, the project will create a cleaner, safer work environment for employees and a more comfortable experience for customers.
The DMV emphasized that customers have many options for handling routine transactions without visiting a field office. Online services at DMV.ca.gov let Californians renew driver licenses and registrations, purchase vehicle records, submit required documents, and even upgrade to a Real ID, which will be required for domestic flights and federal facility entry beginning May 7, 2025. Customers can also use DMV call centers, complete transactions by mail, or make appointments at nearby offices if an in‑person visit is necessary.
The Clovis office’s temporary closure was part of a larger effort to maintain and modernize DMV facilities statewide. Similar renovation projects have affected offices in San Pedro and Los Banos this year. By scheduling renovations after hours or on weekends where possible and communicating closure dates well in advance, the DMV hopes to minimize inconvenience to customers. The Clovis office is scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. on Oct. 28, and business hours will return to normal. DMV officials encourage customers to check their website for current wait times and to schedule appointments to avoid unnecessary delays.
The reopened office will continue to offer full DMV services including driver license exams, registration renewals, and Real ID processing. With the federal Real ID deadline approaching in May 2025, officials urge residents who still need a Real ID to bring required documents—proof of identity, Social Security number, and two proofs of California residency—to their appointment. By taking advantage of online services when possible and making appointments for in‑person visits, Californians can save time and help the DMV serve everyone efficiently.
