California DMV Field Office at Newhall will temporarily close for renovations

Default News Image

In the upcoming weeks, DMV Field Office at Newhall will temporarily close for renovations. The temporary office will cover the impacted area at 18866 Santa Clarita Blvd. This move comes alongside the construction of a new office building in Newhall that is scheduled to open by October.

The DMV's field offices are currently operating at only two locations in Southern California, both in Pomona. Therefore, this temporary closure is necessary to keep up with the increasing volume and wait times as demand grows throughout the region. The temporary office will have four service windows, a dedicated lane for customers applying for real identification cards, and brief processing and testing areas.

It is important to note that this move will not affect the DMV's operations at the Norwalk, San Gabriel, and Los Angeles Main Offices. Additionally, the temporary office will be open on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays.

Customers
This location change is necessary as DMV Field Office Newhall serves over 4,000 customers—both foreign- and domestic- born—persuading them to apply for California driver's licenses and identification cards every month on average. Approximately 300 customers apply for new permits daily, while about 700 use new or renewed identification cards daily in this area alone.
