The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles has announced plans to relocate services from its Monticello, Indiana, facility and re-establish them at the Marion County Clerk's Office.

"We are proud to partner with county officials for this state-of-the-art service in downtown Indianapolis," said BMV Commissioner Kent Abernathy. "As a result, customers will have easier access to BMV services when traveling through central Indiana on US 31 or I-694. This partnership is also consistent with our goal of providing Hoosiers convenient access to the best possible customer service options no matter where they live."

Services will be relocated in phases, starting Dec. 15 and continuing until Dec. 31 for customers within Marion County. Other areas will see service move to the Central Indiana Regional BMV office, located at 904 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis, and the BMV's Bloomington service facility at 841 W. Woodruff Rd., Bloomington.

"I am grateful that we have worked with our partners to create a seamless customer experience in downtown Indianapolis," said Marion County Clerk Marianne Norris. "BMV has worked hard to relocate our services promptly, and I am proud of how well they have managed our transition."

Hoosiers can continue to access BMV services at 59 county clerks' offices. In addition, the BMV's Bloomington Service Center will remain open, offering an entire service office for Hoosiers in Monroe and Brown counties. The Central Indiana Regional BMV will provide supplemental service for Marion County customers with additional space for walk-in customers needing driver's license services.

The Marion County Clerk's Office is located on the fifth floor of the City-County Building, 401 N. Alabama St., Indianapolis.

BMV customers may also visit a BMV branch not located in their county of residence, but they will be charged a $2 surcharge.

The BMV is the state's public agency that registers and tracks all motor vehicles, licenses drivers, and issues vehicle titles. The office also maintains an address confidentiality program to protect victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
