When you move to Tennessee, you’ll have to get a vehicle emissions check before titling and registering. Once your vehicle passes the emissions test, visit your local county clerk’s office and provide:

  • Your ID and proof of TN residency.
  • Most recent out-of-state vehicle registration.
  • The out-of-state title OR the name and address of the lienholder of the vehicle.
  • Payment for the applicable fees and taxes.
