Oklahoma REAL ID Requirements
REAL ID in Oklahoma
It’s not required for all OK residents to obtain a REAL ID. However, beginning in October 2021, federally accepted identification documents such as a passport or REAL ID will be required to:
- Board a plane (even for domestic travel).
- Enter certain federal facilities.
- Enter nuclear power plants.
Oklahoma REAL IDs have a gold star on the upper-right corner.
Obtain an OK REAL ID
To get a REAL ID in Oklahoma, you must visit your local Department of Public Safety (DPS) office and present documents, even if you already have an OK driver’s license or ID.
Visit a DPS office and provide*:
- Proof of identity and legal US presence. This may include your:
- US birth certificate.
- US passport.
- Consular report of birth abroad.
- Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization.
- Proof of social security. This may include your:
- Pay stub containing your full name and social security number (SSN).
- Social security card.
- W-2 or 1099 form.
- 2 documents that prove OK residence. These may include your:
- Utility bill.
- Vehicle or boat registration.
- OK voter registration card.
- Tax filing from the previous year that lists an OK address.
- Payment for the applicable license or ID fee.
If the name on any of your items does NOT match your identity document, you must provide proof of legal name change, such as a marriage certificate, divorce decree, adoption papers, or court-issued name change document.
You will be given a temporary license or ID and your permanent card will be mailed to your address within 5-7 days.

OK REAL ID Fees
REAL ID does NOT cost more than a standard license or ID.
- First-time license: $42.50.
- License renewal (you can renew up to 12 months before your current license expires): $38.50.
- License replacement (convert your card to a REAL ID): $25.
- License renewal for 62-year-old drivers: $21.25.
- License renewal for 63-year-old drivers: $17.50.
- License renewal for 64-year-old drivers: $13.75.
- License renewal for drivers that are 65 years old and older:
- Non-driver ID: $25.
