Ohio REAL ID Requirements
REAL ID in Ohio
Ohio residents are NOT required to obtain a REAL ID-compliant ID. However, a federally accepted ID will be required in the future if you need to:
- Board a domestic flight.
- Enter certain federal facilities.
- Enter nuclear power plants.
To get a REAL ID in Ohio, you’ll need to visit your local Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) office and provide*:
- Proof of full legal name, lawful presence, and birthdate. This may include your:
- U.S. passport.
- U.S. birth certificate.
- Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship.
- Proof of social security. This may include your:
- Social security card.
- W-2 or 1099 form.
- Paystub.
- Proof of residency (2 documents required). This may include:
- A valid OH driver’s license or ID.
- Ohio vehicle title or registration.
- School transcript.
- Payment for the applicable fee.

- Driver’s license renewal: $27.25
- Non-driver ID (new or renewal): $10.00
- First-time driver’s license (21 years old or older): $24.50
- First-time driver’s license (20 years old): $20.75
- First-time driver’s license (19 years old): $22.00
- First-time driver’s license (18 years old): $23.25
- First-time driver’s license (17 years old): $24.50
- First-time driver’s license (16 years old): $25.75
- Commercial driver’s license (CDL) renewal: $46.25
