REAL IDs are not mandatory, however a REAL ID or other federally accepted ID (like a passport) will be required in the future to:
- Board a plane (even for domestic flights).
- Enter certain federal facilities.
- Access nuclear power plants.

NH REAL ID Requirements
Obtaining a REAL ID in New Hampshire requires making a trip to your local Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office. Consider making an appointment in advance.
At the DMV, you’ll need to provide proof of:

- S. birth certificate.
- S. passport.
- Certificate of Naturalization.
- Social security. This may include your:
- W-2 or 1099 tax form that includes your full social security number (SSN).
- Paystub with full SSN.
- Social security card.
- New Hampshire (2 documents required). This may include your:
- Mortgage statement.
- Lease or rental agreement.
- Current utility bill.
- Notarized statement from a property owner or resident.
- Name change (if your names don’t match on any of the documents). This can be your:
- Marriage certificate.
- Divorce decree.
- Court-issued authorization.
You’ll also need to provide payment for the applicable renewal or duplicate license fee.
