Mississippi REAL ID Checklist
REAL ID in Mississippi
Soon you’ll need a REAL ID (or another federally accepted ID, such as a passport) to:
- Board a plane.
- Enter a nuclear power plant.
- Enter restricted federal facilities.
MS REAL ID-compliant IDs have a gold star on them.
MS REAL ID Requirements
Most Mississippi licenses or IDs are already REAL ID compliant. However, if your current license was obtained before 2018, you may need to make a trip to your local Driver Service Bureau (DSB) office. There, you’ll need to provide your:
- Proof of identity. This may include your:
- U.S. passport.
- U.S. birth certificate.
- Permanent resident card.
- Proof of social security. This may include your:
- Social security card.
- W-2 form.
- Pay stub.
- Proof of residency (2 documents required). This may include your:
- Utility bill.
- Insurance document.
- Lease statement.
- Payment for the applicable fee.
Mississippi REAL ID Fees
REAL ID costs the same as a standard license or ID. If you already possess a REAL ID, when you renew your card your new ID will also be REAL ID-compliant.
If it is not yet time to renew your license or ID but wish to obtain a REAL ID, you’ll be charged the $11 duplicate fee to replace your current card.
See Mississippi License Renewal for a complete list of renewal fees for different types of ID.
