It’s quick and simple to renew your vehicle registration in Florida. In most cases it can even be done without visiting a Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) office.

How to Renew Registration in Florida

You can renew your Florida vehicle registration and vehicle tags:

• Online.
• Via the MyFlorida mobile app (available for both iOs and android phones).
• In-person at your local FLHSMV office.

Registration renewal becomes available to Florida residents within 3 months of expiration.

You can renew your registration for 1 or 2 years at a time.

Renew FL Registration Online

The quickest way to renew your FL vehicle registration is online.

Visit the FLHSMV virtual office (GoRenew.com) and get ready to provide your:

• Street address.
• License plate number.
• Driver’s license number.
• Social security number.
• Credit card number for payment of the renewal fee and $2 processing fee.

After you complete your transaction your new registration and stickers should arrive by mail within 7-10 business days.

Renew Florida Vehicle Registration With the Mobile App

If you’d like to renew your Florida registration on your cell phone, the easiest way is through the MyFlorida App.

First download the free App for:

• Apple, or
• Android.

Then, simply open the app and follow the instructions to renew your vehicle registration. Be ready to provide your:

• License plate or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
• Credit card or checking account information*.

*NOTE: There is an additional $4 processing fee for payments made with a credit card and $3.75 fee for payments made from an online checking account when you use the MyFlorida App.

Renew FL Registration In-Person

If you’re unable to process your registration renewal through the mobile app or online, or if you need your new registration and tags immediately, you can still renew your registration by visiting your local FLHSMV office*.

You may be asked to provide your:

• License plate number and VIN (your current registration or registration renewal letter will contain this information).
• Driver’s license.
• Payment for the renewal fee.

*Verify this location is a Motor Vehicle (MV) Services or Dual Services center before you arrive.
