Wednesday marks the closing of a driver service center in West Knoxville. But five days later, a brand-new one will open, from which people can obtain driving licenses, automobile records, or take a driving test.

The address of the old center is 430 Montbrook Lane. As of September 14, 5 p.m., the center will close permanently. The new center opens on September 19 at 8:30 a.m.

The new center can be found in Knoxville at 209 Gore Road SW. It is about ten minutes away, close to a Food City and Union Jack's English Pub.

The Gore Road Driver Services Center will have the capacity to handle the following services:

  • driver licenses
  • Issuance of identification cards
  • reinstatements
  • motor vehicle records
  • vision testing
  • knowledge and skills testing
  • handgun permit applications
  • voter registrations
  • organ and tissue donor registration

Furthermore, Tennessee's e-Services portal can assist drivers in completing various Driver Services transactions. This would include submitting an application to become a new resident of Tennessee or to obtain a driver's license, renewing a driver's license or commercial driver's license (CDL), ordering a duplicate license for a driver's license or CDL, renewing a CDL medical certification, organizing a road skills test interview, submitting reinstatement paperwork, paying reinstatement fees, changing your address, managing emergency contacts, taking a practice exam for a driver's license, and so on.
