You can avoid wasting time at the DMV this season by renewing your vehicle registration online. According to the DMV, an average of 37,000 customers visit a customer service center monthly to renew their vehicle registration. The DMV encourages all customers to utilize their online services instead to reduce the time spent in customer service centers.

The Department of Motor Vehicles has made it easy for the public to complete their vehicle registration online by signing up for an account and registering with a valid credit/debit card. To register and renew your tags, you'll need to provide your vehicle title, proof of insurance, and current registration. You can also use the DMV's online portal to pay driver's license renewal and reinstatement fees.

Not only is renewing your tags through the DMV's website more convenient than visiting a customer service center in person, but it's also safer during the pandemic. The DMV is taking extra precautions to ensure that the public can complete their transactions online without risk exposure in a customer service center.

The DMV urges all customers who need to renew their vehicle registration, or any other services, to do so online to save time and keep themselves safe. The Department of Motor Vehicles is committed to ensuring that its services are available and accessible to the public during these difficult times.

According to the DMV, there are many reasons why it's beneficial to do this transaction online, such as:

Saving time & Money:

  • Renewing your vehicle registration takes mere minutes and eliminates having to go and wait in line at the DMV.
  • You can save money by renewing your registration online for $1 (one year), $2 (two years), or $3 (three years). All you need is your registration card with the title number and four digits of the VIN. Once finished, you will receive decals in five business days or less.
