Two-Hour Closure Will Happen on November 17 at BMV
On November 3, 2022, the BMV announced that they would close all branches in Indiana from 8:30 am to 10:30 am on November 17. The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles says they will close all their branches across the state during this time, so you won't want to go there during that time, but you can still go there on November 17. The only thing is to plan it so that you would arrive after 10:30 am or use a BMV kiosk.
If you'd like to go during that time, another alternative is to visit the online website and renew it that way. Otherwise, just visit a kiosk if you go there and perform your services via self-service. These will remain open during that time. Some of the services that the kiosks provide to local residents include:
- Driver's license renewal
- Duplicate driver's license
- Renew ID card
- Replacement learner's permit
- Replace commercial driver's license
- Registrations
The BMV kiosks allow you to use Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. BMV kiosks in Indiana operate as a 24-hour self-service terminals where you can conduct multiple transactions.
After 10:30 am local time, all BMV branches will resume their everyday operations. For anyone looking for a local BMV location, whether a kiosk or a BMV branch office, visit IN.gov/BMV. You can use this as well to determine the regular hours of your local BMV.
Why will the BMV close for that time? They reported using the time as a team development event to offer residents better services. While they will shut down services to locals for a short two-hour period, the services will return bigger and better than ever before.
