Top 5 Reasons Drivers Get Pulled Over For Traffic Violations

Traffic violations are the worst! Getting caught committing a traffic violation can cost you money, time and a clean driving record. Be careful and avoid these five common traffic violations.

Driving Under The Influence

Driving under the influence is dangerous. A fact so obvious, it almost feels silly to repeat on this list, but we will anyway because it is a common traffic violation despite the dangers. For your safety and the safety of others on the road, avoid drinking if you know you must drive or catch a cab if you have been drinking. The risk is never worth it.

Speeding

Speed is the most common traffic violation. We’re sorry to break it to you, but you are not on the set of The Fast and Furious. Slow down. Speeding really won’t get you to your destination any quicker. Observe the posted speed limits, especially when driving in residential areas and school zones. Don’t become a statistic. Drive at a safe speed.

Running A Stop Light

There really is no point in running a stoplight. Just as pointless as speeding can be, running the stop light will not get you to your destination sooner. At most, you can maybe shave off a minute or two. If being late is a concern of yours, leaving ten minutes earlier can get you there faster. And remember when you’re approaching a yellow stoplight, suppress the urge to speed up and take the risk. Wait for the next green light.

Improper Lane Changes

Safe lane changes are super important, and on the highway, they can be tricky. They require efficient communication between you, the driver, and the other driver on the road. Weaving in and out of traffic all willy-nilly and/or switching lanes too frequently is dangerous. Keep to one lane, always make sure the driver ahead knows what you intend, and change only when necessary.

Tailgating

Nobody likes a tailgater. If you’re guilty of committing this traffic violation on too frequent a basis, we mean this in the kindest way possible: Back off! Give those drivers around you room to breathe. If a car ahead of you has to make a sudden stop or abrupt turn, you will appreciate that extra room to maneuver.
