The Idaho DOT Announced Its 5-Week Construction Program

The Idaho Department of Transportation in Rathdrum is currently accepting applications for the free hands-on intensive training program, which will run from June 13 through July 15. The program, which is in its fourth year, trains selected applicants in welding and ironwork, cement masonry, and heavy equipment operation.

This highly popular program has a 75% placement rate for individuals who successfully navigate the five-week training. Several companies in the industry require trained individuals to fill spots. Applications are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Details about the program can be seen on the Idaho Department of Transportation website. Applicants can watch a four-minute video about the training on the website.

Eligibility requirements:
 
  • All applicants must be 21 years of age by the first day of the program.
  • All applicants must hold a valid driver's license.
  • All applicants must be able to attend all classes from start to finish
  • All applicants must pass a drug screen and physical


No prior experience in construction is required. The Idaho Department of Transportation encourages women, veterans, and minorities to apply.
