On September 22, 2025, the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office announced that two of its branch locations housed inside court complexes will be closed on Tuesday, September 23 in observance of the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah. The North Dade Justice Center in North Miami Beach (15555 Biscayne Boulevard) and the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Center in Miami (1351 NW 12th Street) will not provide in-person service that day. While those facilities typically handle tax collection, auto tag renewals, driver license renewals and other functions usually associated with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, the holiday closure means those services will be unavailable at those sites.

The tax collector’s announcement, published on September 22, stresses that only these two locations are affected. All other Miami-Dade County tax collector branches will remain open and continue to serve the public during normal business hours. Residents who planned to conduct transactions on September 23 such as renewing their vehicle registration, paying property taxes or obtaining other motor vehicle-related services should visit alternative offices or postpone their visit until the closed offices reopen the following day. The office encourages customers to visit the county website for an updated list of locations, hours and services. Many transactions can also be completed online, which may be convenient during the holiday closure.

Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year and is a time of spiritual reflection and family gatherings. Government offices in areas with significant Jewish populations sometimes modify their hours or close altogether in observance of the holiday. Miami-Dade County’s decision to close the two court-based branches acknowledges the celebration’s importance and extends best wishes to the Jewish community. The notice also demonstrates the county’s effort to provide advance notice so that customers can adjust their plans accordingly.

Those who need to visit the tax collector this week should double‑check the service hours for their preferred location and plan accordingly. Because these offices handle a variety of functions like issuing disabled parking permits, processing title transfers, and providing driver license services, the temporary closures could cause increased demand at other offices. Consider using the county’s online services to renew registrations or pay taxes, and arrive early if you must visit a branch. Customers with scheduled appointments at the North Dade Justice Center or the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Center on September 23 should reschedule at a different location. For more information on office locations, hours, and the services provided, consult Miami‑Dade County’s tax collector website. The offices will resume normal operations after the holiday.
